چکیده

INTRODUCTION Any breach in the continuity of the posterior capsule is defined as a posterior capsule tear. Intrasurgical posterior capsule tears are the most common and can occur during any stage of cataract surgery. 1-3 The incidence of posterior capsule complications is related to the type of cataract and conditions of the eye, increases with the grade of difficulty of the case, and furthermore is influenced by the surgeon’s level of experience. Timely recognition and a planned management, depending upon the stage of surgery during which the posterior capsule tear has occurred, is required to ensure an optimal visual outcome.

An Outcome Analysis of Posterior Capsular Rent (PCR) In The Hands of A Senior Phaco Surgeon

Posterior capsular rent is a common complication of cataract surgery including phacoemulsification. Though occurrence is higher with beginners, it can also occur in the hands of a senior phaco surgeon. This study analyses the predisposing risk factors, intraoperative events, mode of occurrence, management strategy and eventual outcome of Posterior capsular rent during phacoemulsification by a s...

Cataract Surgery Focus on Phaco Systems

We cataract surgeons and our patients continue to benefit from ongoing improvements in phaco technology. Because cataract surgery is already such a fast and efficient operation, we are primarily interested in new technologies that can expand our margin of safety—particularly in eyes with dense nuclei and weak zonules. Historically, our three main safety-related concerns with phacoemulsification...

Managing Residual Lens Material After Posterior Capsular Rupture

After posterior capsule rupture, removal of residual lens material is a challenging but important goal. Sequential, interdependent strategies to accomplish this include the Viscoat PAL, the Viscoat Trap, bimanual pars plana anterior vitrectomy, and bimanual irrigation–aspiration of cortex. Once brought into the anterior chamber, the nucleus can be removed either with phacoemulsification above a...
